4th of July party this weekend!

Bring a dish to share and don't forget to practice for the games!

Also:
Just a note for anyone going to the 4th of July party.  Dan is going to be there and is looking forward to seeing all of you, but please remember that he has 2 broken shoulders. Don't try to slap him on the back or pat him on the shoulder, even a handshake is painful. Kisses from the girls are probably fine though, the big flirt!

News about Dan

(This is Kathy, posting for Dan)
Hi folks, I'm back in the hospital again. Started having some back problems and the doctors wanted to do a biopsy on my back before they injected the cement to support the bone, to make sure there was no cancer in there. To do the biopsy they knocked me out so they could move me around and while they were doing that my shoulder was injured. Turns out there is a tumor in my shoulder that weakened the bone so my shoulder is broken now, and the biopsy also showed there is cancer in my spine.

Because of all the complications they're still figuring out the treatment, which will involve rehab and radiation. In any case, I'm going to be in here a while and obviously won't be doing the newsletter. I gave Boyd discs with all the files I use so someone else can get going on it.

I appreciate everyone's support and good thoughts

(This is Kathy again)
Dan's in Beaumont Royal Oak, but they're moving him to a different room soon so if you'd like to call or visit him text me at 248.977.8362 (tell me who you are because I don't have many of you in my phone) Once they move him to rehab I'll add a comment to this post with his room and phone.

The Breakfst Run is On!

If you didn't go, you missed some good food.  Eggs, pancakes, french toast sticks, bacon, sausage, fruit, biscuits&gravy....mmmmmm.  There will be pictures shortly from breakfast.  Hopefully Dan will bring some pics from the after party.

Speaking of Dan, he's having some health issues and a new newsletter editor is needed.  He'll give you the files he has and help you get started, but he's not going to be able to keep it going.

In other news, the American Legion Post 141 in Howell is holding a Vietnam Veterans Mother's Day Tribute on May 11.  See event details on the MIRG event Calendar.

The real breakfast run!

Front Page News

I've set the main page of the MIRG site up as a blog so I can post news items and have the page updated quickly.  Anyone with a Google account can post comments, so we can discuss things as needed. If any board members want to be able to post here, just let me know.

This blog, and the calendar you see for the events are using a special MIRG google account that isn't tied to my personal account at all.  That way, if someone else wants to take over it'll be simple to give the accounts to another person.

You can also see a Facebook badge on the bottom left.  That will take you straight to the MIRG facebook page.  We also have a Twitter account, so if anyone uses Twitter you can let me know so I can start tweeting, right now it's just kind of sitting there.

Welcome!

Welcome to the newly-designed M.I.R.G. web site. I owe many thanks to Barry Dennis for keeping up the original site, especially since I stole many of the pictures from him. THANKS BARRY!
I'm always open to suggestions...let me know what YOU, the M.I.R.G. members want to see in their site. I also hope to make things a little prettier, but please give me some time; I'm still learning how to use Dreamweaver.
